I’m running for Oakland Park City Commission because serving this community has been part of my life long before I ever decided to become a candidate. As President of the Corals of Oakland Park Neighborhood Association, a former three-term member of the Oakland Park Planning and Zoning Board, a member of the Broward Metropolitan Planning Organization, and a graduate of Oakland Park’s Local Government Academy, Kiwanis International member I’ve spent years listening to residents, learning how our city operates, and working on issues that directly affect our neighborhoods. My career as an Emmy Award-winning journalist also taught me the importance of asking questions, listening to every side, getting the facts, and holding institutions accountable. But the greatest influence on why I’m running is my family and the community I want my son to grow up in. I’m ready to bring that experience to the City Commission and work collaboratively to ensure residents are heard, decisions are made openly, and Oakland Park continues moving forward as a community we can all be proud to call home. I've help navigate the negotiations to keep Cherry Creek Park open in talks between the City of Oakland Park and Archdiocese of Miami (Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church). I instituted Little Libraries in the Corals Neighborhood for residents to enjoy books after the Library Moved. I got the city to push Ft. Lauderdale to repave NE 38th St/ Park Lane and 4-years ago I started the "Unity in the Community" holiday gift giving program that has raised nearly $15,000 and hundreds of toys for local Oakland Park families and children.
Residents deserve to know how and why decisions are being made. I will prioritize transparency, accountability, and meaningful public participation so residents have a genuine opportunity to help shape Oakland Park’s future.
Our police, firefighters, infrastructure, and essential city services directly affect our quality of life. I will focus on maintaining reliable services, supporting public-safety personnel, and ensuring taxpayer dollars are directed toward the needs residents depend on every day.
Oakland Park is growing, but growth should strengthen the neighborhoods we already have. I will support responsible development, local and small businesses, attainable housing options, and economic investment throughout the city while protecting the character and quality of life of our neighborhoods.
Have questions or suggestions? I would love to hear from you!
